wow

Alright, the blog is being taken down--thanks to the ones that decided to turn this into a circus.

I started with an compilation of statistics--one that wasn't intended to "attack or begrudge" anyone. People took it the wrong way, twisted it into something it wasn't, and just generally freaked out. Granted, the information could be considered sensitive---but I thought that when I wrote, in clear english, that it wasn't intended as such, that people would understand. They didn't. Rather than fight an uphill battle against people who simply don't read what I write, but read into what I write, I have chosen to discontinue the blog. Hope you are happy, all.

Dude, that sucks! This blog was very informative and I enjoyed it greatly. That said, I know *exactly* what you're talking about. We'll miss you...

I still expect emails, however. I owe you for my acceptance for sure...

:( Why is it that all the good bloggers leave ??? We need more people like you- writing about reality. Sorry to hear you are bidding us readers goodbye.

This is very sad, oldman, to see your blog being forced to end this way. Another badly needed window into a school's been shut. Sad.

Though we won't be able to follow your travails anymore, I wish you the best, and good luck with those interviews.

Oldman,

Far be it from me to advise you what to do, but I feel you are doing great injustice to your readers by taking your blog down.

Why is it that the people who post information contrary to standard marketing mantra are shut down promptly by an outpouring of criticism or spam? This is most unfortunate since it prevents us the applicants from getting a true insiders perspective on the inner workings and problems of business school.

Why is it that everyone needs to drink the kool-aid? If a person is going to be spending 100K on a decision isn't it better to have as much information as possible? By forcing people like you to shut down honest informative blogs, they have made the MBA community is a far poorer place.

Either ways, even if you choose to close shop, I wish you all the best in your current recruitment and future life. You have done a terrific job highlighting the positives of the Johnson school and left us with a tantalizing glimse of the underbelly of MBA recruitment.

Thank you so much for your time and dedication.

Oldman, can you enlighten us a little more on why you've shut down. Some of the bloggers seem to think that the school has pressured you into keeping quiet -- and I hope that's not the case.

Oldman,
I don't know if or how my post factored into your decision to take down your blog because I was critical of your observations. Posting about sex and ethnicity in recruiting is rarely an objective issue and if you feel strongly about it and chose to broach it, I hope that you would continue the dialoge.

But it's your blog and your call. Best of luck with recruiting and in the end, it doesn't matter how many offers that you have. All you need is one and everyone just does one internship.

Contrary to what the posts on this website would lead the outsider to believe, the CMC (Career Management Center) at the Johnson School has a 99% placement rate for internships. That is the relevant information that applicants need to know.

Actually just saw your response to my first comment so I realize that what I said probably had nothing to do with you taking down your blog. Good luck

Here is where you post you resume, man. You've created a buzz. Now exploit it. That would be the best piece of marketing I've seen in a long time. Always have the last word !

I think that both the 99% placement rate and some of oldman's more recent posts do a disservice to prospective students. Placement stats are great, but students deserve to know more about the breakdown and politics behind such a breakdown. However, I think oldman's posts are giving prospectives the impression that Johnson's marketing program isn't strong enough for a white male w/ no relevant background to land a job. I do not agree with that. I think that it just depends on what the economy looks like and right now CPG isn't doing great, so companies are looking for experience. I'm sure the same is true at Kellogg, NYU, Duke, etc., though i have no idea. I am however a huge fan of free speech and hope that the pressures which brought the blog down were not from authorities at Johnson. From what little I know, I don't believe that the case but am not sure.

Good luck to all.

Sorry to hear that you've decided to take your blog down. I for one wanted to know more about what goes on at Johnson.

Best of luck, and I'm still hoping you reconsider.

To the previous poster: CMC has a 99% placement rate? On what planet? Just over half of students get their internships through independent job search! Even the CMC will confirm that. Same for full-time offers.

Hi! I really like your "ebay feedback pro 2" discussion. I am just starting selling on ebay. I am trying to sell "ebay feedback pro 2" at my ebay store at http://stores.ebay.com/onlineincomegenerators.com?refid=store so if you're looking for digital items on ebay, stop buy!
